Tips, Tricks, and General Tidbits
We all want to have a beautiful bathroom... But the question is, how do we get it?
Bathrooms are one of the most frequently used areas of our homes, and no matter how hard we try, they often get dirty pretty quickly. Toilets, basins, bathtubs, showers, vanities and more are used almost everyday by an entire household, which is why regular cleaning is a must. Here at Wet & Forget, we have a few tips and tricks that we have picked up to make cleaning your bathroom easy. _______________________________________________________________ Shower ScreensShower screens are one of those areas in the bathroom that can be such a pain to clean. A build-up of soap scum, body oils and body products over time can make for cloudy, hard-to-see-through glass which is difficult to clean without a lot of time and lots of scrubbing. We recommend using a product specifically designed to target soap scum when cleaning your shower screen. _______________________________________________________________ Bathtubs Bathtubs are another item on the list of bathroom cleaning chores that can also take a lot of work. Dirt often gets mixed in with soap scum and body oils to leave a yellow/brownish residue in rings around the tub. Using an effective, bleach-free product is best to remove this build-up without leaving a harsh bleach and chemical residue. _______________________________________________________________ Shower Head (and other hardware)Most bathroom hardware like shower heads and taps are designed to be shiny. But unfortunately when they're covered in soap scum and product residue they can get a bit dull and splotchy looking. Finding a product that can easily remove this build-up in one go without damaging the hardware finishings would be the best option for getting the shine back on your hardware. _______________________________________________________________ Toilets Toilets, toilets, toilets. Frequently used and unfortunately not always frequently cleaned. Popping a bit of toilet cleaner around the bowl is good, but making sure to give the lid, seat, and exterior of the bowl a good wipe-down is the next best step to a clean toilet. Finding a product with no harsh chemicals and a refreshing scent is a great option for cleaning the extra bits of your toilet. _______________________________________________________________ Sinks, Basins and VanitiesSinks often see a build-up of extra hand soap, toothpaste, hair strands and other residues. While most of the time the visible stuff gets washed down the drain, there is often still stuff stuck to the ends, especially higher up the sides or in the corners (depending on the bowl shape). Using a cleaner that can lift this build-up off in one or two wipes would be best for cleaning sinks. _______________________________________________________________ So...Which product cleans all of these areas, and more? Shower Witch of course! Shower Witch is a gentle, easy to use and bleach free shower cleaner that is perfect for removing soap scum and grime from not only your shower and shower-screen, but almost every other surface in your bathroom too. Shower Witch is a great all-in-one for bathroom cleaning, and works best when used as a weekly or fortnightly solution to bathroom buildup. Learn moreThe Number One Question We Are Always Asked
Here at Wet & Forget we have a great range of products to help service all your home cleaning needs. However, you may have noticed that we have 2 products that seem to do the exact same thing; Wet & Forget 5L Concentrate and Rapid Application 2L Hose-End. You would be right, they do both kill and remove moss, mould, lichen and algae – and that has probably got you thinking to yourself “Can I use my Wet & Forget 5L in my Rapid Application bottle?” This is the question we hear on the phone often and the answer we must give is “No, you can’t!”. These products are not interchangeable! There are a couple of reasons for this: They are different concentrations of the active ingredient This means that Wet & Forget 5L needs to be diluted at a different rate to the Rapid Application. The Rapid Application bottle has a pre-set, unchangeable dilution rate Because these two products need to be diluted at a different rate, if you were to put Wet & Forget 5L into the Rapid Application bottle, it would be applied at the wrong dilution rate and would not work! Rapid Application does the same job, takes the same amount of time to work and covers the same area (minimum of 100sqm!) as the Wet & Forget 5L does. The reason that it comes in a 2L instead of a 5L is to make it easier for you! It is nice and light to carry and its quick and easy to set up and apply. Learn more about whether Rapid Application or the Wet & Forget 5L is better for you by visiting our other blog, “Wet & Forget or Rapid Application?” HERE.
Learn moreHandy hints for autumn cleaning jobs
Times are crazy, and home is now the place where we are spending most of our time. We start to notice the things we previously compartmentalised; the leaning fence, the peeling paint, the broken light, the mildew in the cupboard and most glaringly, the mould and other growth that has popped up outside. When did that happen? There is algae on the driveway, moss on the side path, the roof tiles have lichen and there’s definitely SOMETHING on the patio pavers that looks like dirt but won’t seem to budge. Now that we are coming into Autumn with its shorter days, less sunlight and more rain, biological growth like moss, mould, lichen and algae can get the jump on you before you know it. With these growths preferring damper areas without direct sunlight, Autumn unfortunately brings the perfect conditions. Luckily there is a silver lining, as now that we’re at home we actually have a bit of time to tackle these tasks head on! Now is the perfect time to remove biological growth before it gets worse. Read on for a list of our Autumn-time tips for clearing up pesky growth using Wet & Forget 5L Concentrate Moss and Mould Remover and Rapid Application 2L Hose-End Moss and Mould Remover! Our Handy Autumn Hints 1. Mould can grow on any exterior surface like timber fences, concrete drives and paths, brick walls, pavers, around the pool or even on your planter pots. Luckily, both Wet & Forget and Rapid Application are gentle, bleach-free and non-caustic products and can therefore be used to treat unsightly growth wherever it appears without damaging the surface underneath. Just spray the area with Wet & Forget or Rapid Application and watch it disappear over time. 2. Steps around your entrance can become slippery with algae, especially if the area is shaded. This can also be true of any overly shaded areas such as side pathways, driveways and courtyards or patios. To avoid any potential slips and falls, use Wet & Forget or Rapid Application to remove the growth. 3. It can also be good to start moving your pot plants into some new, sunnier spots to let them soak up the rays! Doing this can sometimes uncover growth that has been building up on the surface underneath them. Try a spot treatment of the area with Wet & Forget to bring the surface back up to scratch. Don’t forget about your statues, sculptures, gnomes and other garden décor – if they’re looking a little sad and green Wet & Forget can take care of them! 4. It can also be worth making a trip to your family grave stones for an Autumn clean up. Treating grave stones with Wet & Forget now is the perfect time to see beautiful, pristine grave stones in time for Summer. 5. We are often asked about cleaning outside awnings that don’t get much sun. The solution is Rapid Application, our new hose-end moss and mould remover. Rapid Application does the same job as Wet & Forget however it is more convenient to apply as it connects straight onto a standard garden hose. There's no need for climbing up on ladders anymore or mixing it into a garden sprayer - all the action happens in the bottle! Try Rapid Application for treating your roof, driveway, or any other large or hard to reach areas. 6. Clean up your entertaining area ready for Spring. Apply Wet & Forget or Rapid Application now so that while you are hibernating inside over the cooler Autumn and Winter days, Wet & Forget will be going to work removing all that biological build-up ready for Spring! 7. Trim back overhanging foliage from your path or patio to allow the light in. By doing this it will help prevent mould build-up on those hard surfaces. And don’t forget: Wet & Forget or Rapid Application can be used as preventative measures over the Winter months as well. Just let Wet & Forget do the work for you, and your home will be ready for Spring!
Learn moreDo you have mould on your tennis court?
Wet & Forget is safe to use on all tennis court surfaces. Application: The best time to apply Wet & Forget is in the morning or late afternoon to avoid excess evaporation. The entire court must be sprayed for an effective kill to take place even if the surface looks clean, because the spores are still present and will re-contaminate any treated surface. Coverage: We recommend that you use Rapid Application as it is easy to apply. Just attach your hose and spray! Depending on the surface of your court you will need 4-6 x Wet & Forget Rapid Application to cover a full size court. Surfaces: Listed below are the best treatment methods for different surfaces. On all surfaces you must sweep the court clean of all leaves, dirt etc. so that the active ingredient can penetrate directly into the spores. Concrete, Rebound Ace and other hard surfaces (3-4 x RAPID APPLICATION). Thoroughly saturate the entire dry surface with Rapid Application. Synthetic grass ,Clay or Loam surfaces (4-6 x RAPID APPLICATION). Apply to a damp (not wet) surface e.g. after a morning dew or after a light hosing. If the court is badly contaminated the mould will need to be loosened by brushing before the Rapid Application is applied. Please note if you can't see the fibres of the synthetic grass through the "mould crust" you will have to dislodge the crust manually before you apply Rapid Application. Reaction Time: Wet & Forget Rapid Application contains no bleach or heavy chemicals so it does take time for the infested surface to come clean. This depends on the type and intensity of the growth (anywhere between a few weeks for green growth to 6-12 months for black mould). Benefits: No bleach, No acid and is biodegradable. No pressure cleaning, no wasting water! Kills the mould spores and helps prevent premature regrowth.
